Democratic Party priorities stink
The American working class has abandoned the Democratic Party because it appears to be run by elites, who have no concept of what ordinary people face in their lives.
For example, most Americans are truly religious. In fact, we are the most religious country in the world by church attendance and affilliation. The unceasing left liberal focus on some social issues - to the exclusion of war, poverty and the destruction of the American dream - is a turn off and affront for many of these people, who would otherwise go Democratic - thus the success of the GOP appeal of family values (code for no gay marriage, etc.)
Instead of presenting the reason for values, the Democratic party imposes a litmus test of social mores, like rules for entry into some Harvard fraternity. The Gop does the same, although their code is religious.
While Democrats should espouse fairness and decency, they should not also do a Clinton and push for trade agreements (Korea, Columbia) that will destroy jobs here and move even more money overseas, and then offer Americans some pretense of "shared values" that it will help these other countries.
American workers see a portrayal of the Democratic Party as maintaining a consistent stance against controlling immigration, which has become a way for the rich to cut wages in construction and other industries, wages which once supported a middle class lifestyle.
American workers want a Democratic Party that fights for unions, and doesn't appoint labor haters in almost every sphere of government.
And American workers are very tired of a Democratic Party that talks down its nose to the working class, as though pushing a pencil requires more skill than building a house, a car, a bridge or computer.
If the Democratic Party wants worker support it has to make its leaders stop trying to distract us, brainwash us and bullshit us. The leadership perception of its own intelligence is grotesque, and that arrogance is the biggest contributor to the party's ignorance and denial of common sense solutions.
A third party would be successful if it just simply stood up for the middle class - not the rich, the banks and the paid off intelectuals - those geniuses who have convinced politicians that inheriting millions is achievement, and getting back your taxes from Social Security is entitlement.
